Does the future hold a musical episode for How I Met Your Mother?
Neil Patrick Harris would be game.
In an interview with AOL.com NPH had the following comments on the subject:
That would be hilarious! Jason [Segel] sings … Josh [Radnor] sings … I think Aly [Hannigan] is the odd woman out in that scenario, but maybe she could do some sort of rap … gangster rap. [Laughs] There was the one episode where she’s got some ghetto background. A cap sideways, pants on backwards … I can totally see it now. [Laughs] Yeah, that would be awesome.
I think a musical episode might be a great addition to Season 5. The cast definitely has the skills. And I think Alyson Hannigan would be able to hold her own. After all, she was part of the infamous “Once More, With Feeling” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. What are your thoughts? Would you like to see a musical episode of HIMYM?

I admit, it’s been far too long since the last new episode of How I Met Your Mother. If you’ve been missing the show as much as I have, here’s a little internet gem to entertain you. It’s Prop 8 - The Musical, featuring NPH!
NPH has a fantastic voice, no matter what he sings: songs about shoes on Sesame Street, the sensational “Brand New Day” in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and of course, his holiday classics on How I Met Your Mother!
What’s your favorite NPH musical moment?

How I Met Your Mother is proving to be THE force to be reckoned with for 2008. As if the highly amusing EW photo spread wasn’t enough, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders frolicked in their festive best on a recent cover of TV Guide.
Here’s some video from TVGuide.com with a behind the scenes look at the photo shoot:
I have to admit, I agree with Alyson Hannigan’s sentiment that a baby shouldn’t be written into the next season of HIMYM. Here’s hoping the writers are on the same wavelength. And NPH, for the record, I make a mean egg nog, so feel free to stop by for a holiday bender!
Barney Stinson’s latest blog post is a letter to Santa Claus. In case you ever wanted to know what this bro is hoping to find on Christmas morning, here’s his wish list:

Barney appears to really identify with Mr. Claus. After all, they do have a lot in common. Both wear suits, stuff stockings, and are awesome!
Think Barney’s on Santa’s “naughty” or “nice” list?

I Love You, Man, the feature comedy starring Jason Segel, Paul Rudd and Rashida Jones, will make its debut at the SXSW Film Fest in Austin, Texas on March 13, 2009.
This will be the second year in a row that one of Segel’s films will kick off SXSW - Forgetting Sarah Marshall had the same honor at the 2008 festival.
In case you haven’t heard about this flick yet, here’s the summary, according to the IMDB:
Friendless Peter Klaven (Rudd) goes on a series of man-dates to find a Best Man for his wedding. But when his insta-bond his new B.F.F. (Segel) puts a strain on his relationship with his fiance (Jones) can the trio learn to live happily ever after?
I really enjoyed Forgetting Sarah Marshall, so I’m looking forward to this. If you won’t be able to see it at SXSW, it’ll be in theatres a week later, on March 20th.

There are two places I get my comedy fix on a weekly basis - Monday nights with HIMYM, and Saturday nights with SNL. And on January 10, 2009, my comedy worlds will collide when Neil Patrick Harris becomes the first host of the new year on SNL!
2008 was definitely the “Year of NPH”, from his cameo in the Harold and Kumar sequel, to the internet sensation Dr. Horrible’s Singalong Blog, and of course his awesome portrayal of Barney Stinson on HIMYM. It appears that 2009 may just be another banner year for him, if the SNL hosting gig is an indicator of what the new year holds for him.
Is anyone lucky enough to have tickets to SNL for January 10th? If you’re not one of the lucky few to be in NYC, will you be tuning in to SNL that night? You can be sure I’ll be tuned in!

‘Tis the season for “best of” and “worst of” lists, and Entertainment Weekly decided to put the cast of the best sitcom (in my very overt opinion) to work in a series of photos highlighting the best of 2008!
Where else would Cobie Smulders become Carrie Bradshaw, Alyson Hannigan morph into Sarah Palin, or the trifecta of HIMYM hotness that is Josh Radnor, Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris impersonate teen heart throbs The Jonas Brothers?
If you haven’t seen these photos yet, I highly suggest checking them out, and let me know which one is your fave. My vote? The Jonas Brothers, of course, for the pure hilarity factor, especially Smulders and Hannigan chasing behind the boys. Although the Indiana Jones photo is a close second.
This past Monday’s episode of How I Met Your Mother has proved once again that Barney Stinson is LEGENDARY!
In the spirit of the holidays, Barney shared some of his favorite songs about giving - giving it to Ted’s sister Heather, that is!
If you missed it, click on the video above. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this since Monday!
So what are your thoughts on the musical stylings of Barney Stinson? Think you’ll be hearing these new holiday tunes at parties this weekend?

If you thought Season 4 of How I Met Your Mother began and ended with “Naked Man”, you were sadly mistaken.
This year’s holiday episode, “Little Minnesota”, was chock full of laughs, from musical numbers by Barney to new Canadian jokes.
Here’s the episode recap from CBS.com :
When Ted’s younger sister, Heather, comes to visit and decides she wants to move there, Ted worries that she’s not mature or responsible enough to survive in NYC. Being the overprotective older brother, Ted tries to keep her out of trouble, and in particular keep her away from Barney. But when Ted becomes too overbearing, Heather teaches him a lesson that gives him new respect for her. And after northern natives Marshall and Robin bond during the first frost of the year, Marshall helps Robin get through her worst bout of homesickness by introducing her to his favorite Minnesota themed bar.
What did I love about this episode? Well, first and foremost, Barney’s renditions of holiday favorites, all crudely referencing Ted’s sister Heather. “Jingle Bells” will never be the same again! Secondly, I really liked how Marshall tried to help Robin with her homesickness, by taking her to his favorite Minnesota-themed bar, and especially when he took her to the Canadian “Hoser Bar” at the end. And I thought Marshall doing “Let’s Go to the Mall” at karaoke was such a great touch.
What did everyone else think of “Little Minnesota”? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Award season is nearly upon us again, and the Golden Globes are set to be handed out in January. On the list of nominees - Neil Patrick Harris!
NPH received a nod in the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” category for his consistently awesome portrayal of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother.
Check out this video from ET Online for his reaction.
I’m thrilled NPH was nominated, but disappointed that How I Met Your Mother wasn’t included in the “Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy” category.
NPH does have some serious competition, although I’d like to see him take home this statue. He’s up against Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold, Entourage) a three-time Emmy winner, and Tom Wilkinson (Benjamin Franklin, John Adams). If you recall, NPH was up against Piven at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards and lost; and Tom Wilkinson took home the Emmy for his portrayal of Benjamin Franklin.
This is Neil Patrick Harris’ first Golden Globe nom for HIMYM, but his third nomination overall.
The 2009 Golden Globe Awards will air on January 11, 2009 at 8 pm EST on NBC.
