Award season is nearly upon us again, and the Golden Globes are set to be handed out in January. On the list of nominees - Neil Patrick Harris! NPH received a nod in the “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” category for his consistently awesome portrayal of Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. Check out this video from ET Online for his reaction. I’m thrilled NPH was nominated, but disappointed that How I Met Your Mother wasn’t included in the “Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy” category. NPH does have some serious competition, although I’d like to see him take home this statue. He’s up against Jeremy Piven (Ari Gold, Entourage) a three-time Emmy winner, and Tom Wilkinson (Benjamin Franklin, John Adams). If you recall, NPH was up against Piven at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards and lost; and Tom Wilkinson took home the Emmy for his portrayal of Benjamin Franklin. This is Neil Patrick Harris’ first Golden Globe nom for HIMYM, but his third nomination overall. The 2009 Golden Globe Awards will air on January 11, 2009 at 8 pm EST on NBC.
